Special Education Teacher - Assigned to Livonia Middle/High School

• Anticipated assignment in Livonia Middle/High School CHOICES Program for students aged 18+

Goals of the CHOICES Program:

• For learners to engage in community-based learning and pre-vocational opportunities
• For learners to become as independent as possible with the care and maintenance of all areas of their personal living situation.
• For learners to participate in opportunities to give back to the community by volunteering and helping others.
• For learners to reach maximum independence across all settings.
• For learners to develop and implement personal care habits.
• For learners to begin developing pre-vocational skills in the classroom, buildings and throughout campus and eventually into the community.
• For the learners to develop social skills within the school setting and the community.

Job Qualifications

Candidates should have:

• effective collaborative and leadership skills in order to work in a team setting
• strong problem-solving skills to support student success
• a proactive and solution-focused approach to meeting student needs
• Appropriate NYS Certification
